I had the honor of photographing the first Same Sex wedding at Brookside Gardens.
The brides were excited that their wedding was special in this way, along with being special for all the other reasons that weddings are. These two were giddy from the first moment they saw each other at their First Look to their final send off. They both wore white, one wearing a suit and one a dress. This photograph captures one of the many fun moments during their ceremony, where they looked to their friends and family after a joke was made. I love showing the connection between the couple and their guests.
The couple were lucky on their wedding day. Although it was August, it turned out to be the coldest day of the summer, only in the 60's, with a terrific wind that kicked up during most of the day. A lot of the guests were not prepared for how chilly it would feel. Just as the ceremony started it began the spit large rain drops and it kept going, which made everyone nervous. Even umbrellas were turned inside out just before it started. Luckily the wind and rained died off in time to enjoy the ceremony without distraction.
Brookside Gardens is a beautiful more casual feeling venue, with its lush gardens. It has a huge amount of trellices and arbors that flowering plants hang off, creating a serene space for photography and the ceremony. The reception venue has large garage-style doors that help with openess and air flow. The large number of windows bring a natural lighting at to the romantic character.
