I was lucky enough to get back to one of my favorite places to photograph a warm, fun-loving couple. Felice and Colin tied the knot at Mount Washington Ski Resort, located on beautiful Vancouver Island, B.C. on a perfect summer’s day. I grew up skiing on this hill, about a 3 hour drive from Victoria, so getting on the chairlift to the top for the bridal party photos brought back some nostalgia (when I wasn’t snapping photos that is). The view from the top was perfect with the coastal mountains crystal clear. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Raven Lodge with Mt. Albert Edward as the backdrop. Here is their story…

North Vancouver B.C. Wedding Photographer | Ellie & Matt
I’ve known Matt since junior high and our cross-country running days, so it was an honor to be chosen to photograph his wedding. It’s been great getting to know Ellie in the times I’ve been back to visit, so I was very excited about capturing their big day. Their intimate ceremony took place in North Vancouver, B.C. at their home overlooking the mountains and ocean that make this place so special (and North Vancouver just so happens to be where I was born too!). Afterwards we went off for photos to the Cleveland Dam on Capilano Lake, with the signature peaks, the Two Lions, in the background on a perfect summer’s day. Then we headed across the Lion’s Gate Bridge to Stanley Park before heading downtown to leave for an amazing 7 minute helicopter ride (courtesy of Blackcomb Aviation) to the wedding reception venue on Grouse Mountain. It was a surreal experience to float above the city and the ocean and then land on a mountain. I tried to take it all in, between all the photos I was taking! The reception in the Timber Room was an awesome time before it ended and we all headed back down the mountain on the gondola.
The first image shows how Matt proposed to Ellie, a creation made with spray paint on their deck done in the middle of the night with only a distant street light to guide him. A nice reminder to still have on your wedding day, don’t you think?
