Sarah & Donovan – January 16th

It’s always fascinating for me to hear a couple’s story about how they met. Sarah & Donovan share a love of car racing, and met at the local hillclimb race track where they both raced. We went back to the track for some fun (although in a much slower vintage car) and were greeted by rain which we escaped while at Parliament Hill. We did our best not to get inundated but we were forced to run for it. We did get a nice lightning show though! The rain let up eventually to allow for a few outdoor shots at Goolabri Country Resort and the sun even poked through at the end.

Even the roos were getting into the festive spirit…

A new year…

It’s the traditional time for resolutions and looking back and taking stock of the year that was 2009. For me it was an amazing year, making a successful transition to weddings in Australia and having so many different experiences. I feel really lucky that so many people have trusted me with their wedding photos and they have all helped in my growth as an artist. Now I’m about to start up again for the second peak of the summer wedding season (still find it strange that there are two peaks here) and I’m very excited about the year ahead. Although I am still busy I had booked time out over Christmas to pursue my other love of travelling and visited some Asian countries. I was amazed at how many weddings I witnessed while touring around, mostly on Sundays it seemed. It made me appreciate how much space we have to work with here and in Canada, like when I saw over a dozen couples crammed into one of the few small parks in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Here is a photo of a bride in Hanoi and the ubiquitous scooter. I’m not sure if they actually got around on it or just the groom brought it for some shots, but it’s a little different…

The temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia are an amazing sight, so it was cool to see a local wedding photographer taking advantage of it. Apparently couples there change their outfits (which they rent) up to a dozen times.

Here the bridal party get some shots taken while the bride has her wardrobe team change her into an orange dress in the background…

Here is one of my many ‘random scooter’ photos and one of its many uses, carrying bananas, along with others such as transporting 5 people, window panes, ducks, pigs… you name it!

I thought I’d finish with a shot of me kissing a Buddha at Angkor Wat…
